It Begins

I'll get straight to the point on this one.

For those of you who don't know, I've begun focusing seriously on my art and making a business of it.

(I'm not abandoning my academic studies or my writing, trust me. However, there have been some serious hiccups regarding funding and availability for programs and opportunities that are simply a matter of time and patience to overcome. Such is the military life, I've been told.)

I'm not going to give the whole spiel about how I've always loved all forms of art and it's had such a big impact on my life and blah blah blah. If you know me at all, you already knew that. You likely also already know I've been selling my stencil paintings at conventions for years.

The news is moreso that recently I've begun branching out, begun genuinely working every single day at getting better, at learning and improving. I no longer need to rely on stenciling but do all of my paintings by hand. I'm also relearning digital art, am moving further into multi-media with inks, watercolors, gauche, and 3D media, and am trying more approaches and techniques constantly.

In response to this, people have commissioned (and thankfully loved!) pieces outside the paintings I've always done - ink pieces of all sizes and styles, tattoos, logos and advertisements, custom art on collectibles, wood paintings, 3D work, and more.

I have to admit, I've had this website for months now and I've only shown it to maybe two people. There's a level of anxiety and nervousness that's inherent in sharing art (in sharing anything you do and are passionate about) because on some level it expresses such a raw, vulnerable part of you.

But it's time.

Over the years I've developed an attitude of facing my fears head on and challenging myself as much as possible. Complacency has never been appealing to me and this website, this focus on something more sensitive to me than my previous endeavors, is one of those challenges.

The website isn't complete (in case the "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" bit at the top wasn't incredibly obvious), but it's getting there. Really, I just need to find a place with a large enough scanner to properly scan all the pieces I've uploaded, instead of relying on old pictures of varying size, quality, and lighting.

However, since that doesn't look like it will be immediately possible, this will have to do for now.

So if you ever want a tattoo designed just for you, need logos or designs for your own business, or even just want a painting, inking, sketch, or digital piece of a favorite superhero, videogame character, movie poster, etc., hit me up!

Even if not, I'm always open to suggestions, constructive criticism, and questions.

Love and peace,
